Spot report – Kamakura (2019-01-28)

Webmaster have a half-day-visit to Kamakura last week. It was a fine day and good to have a walk.

Wintersweet or Japanese allspice (Chimonanthus praecox) flowers in the garden of Hasedera Temple. The yellow flowers match blue winter sky!

 

 

This is the great Buddha of Kotoku-in Temple known as “Kamakura Daibutsu”.

   

 

The statue was constructed in 13th century, and originally placed in the hall. It is now in open air because the hall was destroyed by earthquakes and following tsunami occurred probably in 14th century.

   

 

This is an approach to Tsurugaoka-hachinangu Shrine. Cherry trees are planted both side.

   

 

The main buildings are on the stone stairs.
